End of term, end of 10year olds

Wow, what a busy last few weeks of term! The Year 6 did us proud in their end of year school play, with confidence and talent.  There was a trip to the beach on the hottest day of the year, a party to celebrate, and so the list goes on!  Life is busy when you are a Mum.  Then there are the Birthday parties.  I sometimes forget that once my child has turned a certain age, their are others in the year to catch up to!  So here are a couple of cards I knocked up for 11 year old boys.  Inspiration for the frog in a jar was taken from Deinse at Ladybug Stampin.

Friends for life

You may have heard me talk about Periscope before.  You may have no clue what it is! Well as briefly as I can explain it, it is a live broadcasting platform.  You can live broad from your device.  You can view anyone that is broadcasting from around the world live! (Or catch any videos they have previously done) Amazing right! Well my name or in technical terms, my 'handle' is @StampinStarCreations You can watch me craft and show demo's of cards and crafts I make.

Any how to cut a long story short, I have made some lovely friends through it. Both in the UK and abroad. The first card was for a lady called Linda for her Birthday.  Using a Timeless Textures and Crazy for You stamp sets.

This next card was for another friend I have made via periscope, she very kindly sent me some waz paper and 'stick-it' its fab for die cutting.  It acts as an adhesive on the back to save you fiddling with the fine lines.  On this particulat card I cut out the word thanks (which was used on another card) from a thinlit die (hello you set). Cut the same work out in Melon Mambo (hot pink) and inlayed it for a different effect.  The stick-it stuff worked amazingly on it! So a big thanks to Michaela.

Mask the effect

Its fun to play with something ab bit different that creates different effects. What am I talking about? Stencils! These masking stencils from Stampin Up are great for creating ombre effects and shapes with sponging and inks.  The thick vellum strikes again! Love the fact you can stencil, ink, emboss, stamp... you name it...  I created this card for a 1st Wedding Anniversary using their themed colour of purple and left over organza ribbon from the wedding.

This card was desgined for my Neice's birthday, something young and modern, with some sparkly gold washi tape from SAle-A-Bration, but glitter paper can be used for the same effect.

Well the boys sports day started dry... and then come the afternoon... They started off but with a few to many slipping over it was called to a hault.  My eldest son was saved from having to do the backward racing!

And just look at these cuties! Not mine I hasten to add, but like a Grandma I enjoyed the cuddles lol!  6 1 day old Guinea pigs, very tiny, very cute and they snuggled up in this half empty egg box. Everyone say awwwww

One for the Mother, 2 for the show

One way of being able to share my passion and love for stamping is doing You Tube videos.  I used to love the idea of being a Children's Television presenter, so I guess this is as close as I am going to get.

This card was made for my Mum, I thought she would appreciate the delicate flowers from the Birthday Blossoms set, and the colours somehow reminded me of her.  Mint Macoron for the soft green, Melon Mambo and daffodil delight for the centre.

I used the Gift Bag Punch board to make a matching bag to put some earrings inside too.

Spots and Stripes

I think spots and stripes are timeless aren't they?  I think if in doubt there is always spots and stipes, they make a great basis to add to.

Stampin up do this amazing thick vellum, so not think like tracing paper, it is great for layering, stamping on and punching or die cutting.

I have also been playing with the Paper Bag Punch Board, I keep making little bags!! Trying my hand at different designs and shapes, you can use patterned designer series paper, or use plain paper or card to stamp and decorate yourself.

That's not all... with the off cuts that come from the paper bag punch board, I took inspiration from you tube and made hinges for a door on this 49th birthday card.

One Sheet Wonder

I love doing one sheet wonders as they are such a quick and easy way to produce a background and lots of cards, especially suitable for those thank you cards!
This set of cards were to thank the ladies who attended my Stampin Up Launch.  I used colours from the subtles range, MArina Mist, Calypso Coral and So Saffron, and one of my all time favourite stamps sets- Kinda Eclectic

I love Summer Silhouttes, although it won't be carrying over to the new Catalogue that comes out in June! So do order it before the 31st May from my shop if you would like to get your hands on it!  I embossed the repeated diamond pattern in gold and sponged the colourful background.  I then embossed the other images with black embossing powder for a striking look.

Post Abroad

Thing cards winged there way across the pond to Australia and America! I tried to make them to what I thought would suit the lovely ladies receiving them.  These were done as part of a Facebook card swap on Artful Craftin.

This card went to Rosalie, and seemed to take forever to arrive, I was worried it might have got lost in the post, but thankfully it arrived in Australia!  So this one is using Timeless Textures and Birthday Blossoms

The next card went to America to the jolly Denise, I wanted a bit of sparkle and used whats called the 'kissing technique' where you stamp an image on a plainer surface, See edge of the card... For this card I used something from the Sale-a-Bration catalogue and the flower is using the pansy punch

I can't believe my oldest sister is 40!!! I remember when my Mum was 40 and thinking how old that was! lol... How time flies... So in keeping with the stamping theme. I grabbed some brown packing paper and some black ink and got stamping. It was so much fun to stamp all over the place ha ha. So I got wrapping and tieing with some raffia to represent brown paper packages tied up with string (#SoundOfMusic) one of our favourite childhood films.  My dear sister is a a big craft inspiration in my life and the one who got me into Stampin Up products, For that I am forever grateful!Check out her beautiful work at Artful Stampin (just click on name to follow link)

So here is the Birthday card I made, using sponging, masking and the retired Stippled blossoms stamps.  I embossed a script stamp on top with white heat embossing to give texture.  To add even more texture I added splashed from the gorgeous grunge set.

Taking up the Challege

Who doesn't like a challenge right?  Well I thought I would give it a go... over at Global Design Project they had a sketch.  OOh I thought lovely and simple to work with and lots of different ideas to be had.  So I used the same colours and stamp set that I used for a One Sheet wonder to create some little thank you cards, and jazzed up my card for the challenge using gold sequins.  I stamped the 'swishy' stamp from the Perpetual Birthday Calendar set to give me a stone wall effect.  The purple flowers were a reminder of those wall flowers that poke through the brick work!  I used some cotton ribbon to stamp a sentiment on.

Great results from my first workshop

I had 3 ladies turn up for my first workshop.  I think I was being a bit ambitious to think I could fit in 6! Having 3 was a great start and confidence booster.  It was a great atmosphere of chatting, laughing and introducing them to using stamps at the versatility of just one stamp set.  They all seemed to have their own styles and came out with 9 completely different cards.  We came up with a great idea of having a parent and child crafting session which I though was a great idea! So watch this space...  We used one of my favourite sets Sheltering Tree and I limited them to a handful of colours including the in colours.

Co-Ordination!

For anyone local in Wiltshire who missed my Launch event; there is another opportunity to have a cuppa and a chat Wednesday 4th May at 2pm. leave a message in the comments if you would like to know more.

So my eldest son has been invited to a friends party tomorrow.  I wanted something bright, fun and suitable for a soon to be 11 year old girl.  I used some papers from the 'Have a Cuppa' designer paper series in the spring/summer catalogue, which was just the ticket!  I took inspiration from this to make a sweety jar and decorated it using the same glimmer paper flowers with the petite petals punch, the decorative label punch and sentiment 'enjoy' from 'Endlesss Birthday Wishes' stamp set.

Monday 18th April- Getting the word out

I had to wait before I could show you this picture as it was going to my lovely new downline 'Ali'.  These little projects were made from just one sheet, yes 1 sheet of A4 whisper white paper! I loved making and finding ways in which I could keep on using those little scraps that were left from the printed sheet.  I took inpiration from scome colours I saw on pinterest and the Bountiful Border stamp set to come up with:
a card
Notebook
3 x Notelets
Tag
bookmark
and matchbox with a few paper clips.

Thurday is a special day here in the UK, it's going to be Queen Elizabth's 90th Birthday!!! To celebrate the kids at the toddler group decorated these simple flags. I used drinking straws to attached to an A5 paper printed with a crown.  The kids enjoyed the sparkly gem stones! The straws were short enough to be to pokey, ha ha.

So... the other thing that is happening this Thursday is my launch.  It is a way for me to let my friends know (and anyone interested) that this is what I'm up to.  I have become a demo for a company who's products I use and love. Let me teach and share with you!  So top tip is to print of a sheet of paper - but go ahead use some Stampin Up! products on it in this case Birthday Blossoms.  Each come out slightly different and decorated in 'in colours' Watermelon Wonder and Cucumber Crush

April Artful Stampin Challenge

Well the long awaited Easter break has already reached the end!  We had the first week chilling at home and doing trips to the park. Followed by a week away in Devon with the inlaws.  We stayed at a lovely holiday cottage which we have been to a few times now.  The boys particularly enjoy the Jacuzzi bath and arcades.  So we end up coming home with a few bits of plastic... how do I say it...? tat? And a some tasteful keyrings. All good fun...

And here is the card I made for Ruth's April - Artful Stampin Challenge.  Using the photo as inspiration to create a card.  The full details can be found over on her blog if you follow the link.

I wanted to incorporate as much as possible from the piece of jewellery into my card. So the butterflies from Backyard Basics, Petite Petals stamps and punch with gold embossing. Timeless Textures to create a large gold chain effect and stippled blossoms to represent the roses.  I even added some crystal vintage buttons and pearl centres, adding sequins to bring it together. The green ink was Garden Green with the Gold Encore and versamark ink.
