Wedding Card and Easter Egg Competition

Artful Stampin sent me a box of goodies to play with!  In the box was a few samples of things that can be made with Stampin Up products.  Included inside was a wedding favour in white and silver.  I had a play with the vellum which is lovely and thick, can be stamped on and apparently even heat embossed!  I am yet to try that... But here is the card inspired by the wedding favour. Also used in the card was the elegant butterfly punch, timeless textures, sequins, a doillie and white jute ribbon to accent the buttterfly, dazzling diamonds glimmer paper.

And in other crafty news my boys decorated eggs for the school Egg decorating competion. This years theme was books. So the eldest (age 11)went for 'The Twits' by Rold Dahl and the youngest (age 5) did the 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carl. I'm pleased to announce the oldest won 1st place out of his class and the youngest won second place!

3 Colours, 3 Cards and not a lot of time!

The morning was spent at the toddler group (which I help to run) and after being on the computer and getting my Facebook page up and running, I was itching to get stuck into making some cards.  I had a play with 'Botanicals for You' and decided to stick with just 3 of the in colours, so I went with Delightful Dijoun, Mint Macaron and Tip Top Taupe.  Well can I just say the colour co ordination makes it sooo easy to work with! Having matching colour inkpads and cardstock is a dream! I didn't invest in the cardstock before now... think it's going to be a game changer though ;)

The Start of the Journey...Taking the Plunge!

I have been cardmaking and crafting for nearly 20 years!  I used to love making thank you notes as a child and in my teens I began experimenting with wrapping paper and card.  As the years went on my small collection of bits and bobs grew from a couple of boxes to... well a room full now!  I found cardmaking fun and therapeutic. I enjoyed the process of making something from nothing and pleasure from giving cards away.  I managed to sell cards in a few local shops but always begrudged making 6 of a kind.  I began gaining commissions and made cards to suit peoples occasional needs.  I enjoyed using scrapbook papers and rubber stamps to make cards that would sometimes take hours! My sister Ruth at Artful Stampin became an independent demonstrator for a craft company called Stampin Up!  I had come across their products before, but it now opened up a whole new world of lovely stamps and dies (shapes) to work with.  After having used their products for a good few years and feeling a bit stuck in a rut. It was the perfect time to sign up with the company as a demo especially with the great offer at the moment of £160 worth of products for just £99 during Sale-A-Bration which goes up till the end of March.
