I'm dreaming of a white Christmas...

Oooh you know when you have an idea, you test it... and it works... Well here it is!
Embossing paste to create a snow scene.

Puts a different stance on you traditional shaker card.  The more the paste is moved around the 'looser' and more malleable it becomes.  "Such fun!"  Great for kids and adults alike.

Using the lovely new Hearts come Home stamp set for the stars teamed up with the matching dies 'Hometown greetings Edgelits dies' which- is you buy now you can get as a bundle and get that 10% off!
Watch the video now of how it was made:

Making Oh So Eclectic into Poppies

With this colder weather here in the UK I am already starting to feel autumnal!  I thought I would load this video of an idea I came up with after playing with the Oh So Eclectic stamp set.  Looking at the shape got my mind thinking about poppies, a quick google search helped me to look at the most realistic colours to use for each poppy.  I was amazed how this simple technique could create great effects.

Wacth the video to find out the colour combinations.  I am happy for my cards to be cased; all I ask is for acknowledgement especially if it is going out on social media, many thanks!

My inspiration was the classic red Poppy and the Canadian yellow orange Poppy
and those other lovely purple and pink ones!

Jar of love, masculine style!

One of those stamps sets that you can keep going back to and get something new each time! Love it!  This time rather than flowers I went for something more masculine, which I ended up using for my Dad's Birthday card as he is a keen gardener.

Click in the image to view the how to video:

I teamed it up with the wood grain stamp to use as a base, cut around the jars for a bit of dimension and mounted it on dimensionals.

You are what you... hoard?!

So as a demo we get to see the new catalogues early- WATCH THIS SPACE for things made with new product

When I first got this set, like I do with most my stamps- I just got stamping.  I like to repeat patterns, try a few different colours, just to see where the creativity might take me.  Then this happened...
I developed it until they looked more and more human. lol!

I even managed to create a whole little family.  For the sake of the card which I wanted to keep fun and lighthearted I selected a few colours from the brights colllection.

Wisteria Wonder

I love it when you can use stamp sets to do so much more then they were 'intended'? I guess? I say that with caution, as I think a lot of creativity is to do with the exploration and play.

As soon as you use a different ink colour it can completely change the whole look of a card. Infact this is how the card came about. I had used completely different colours to start with - then I got the idea to do wisteria.

Its a simple one layer card which is great even for beginners

This little Piggy...

I had so much fun stamping different hairstyles on this piggy! Can you see what I did? I took the plant which is supposed to match up with the plant pot to make this punky pig. I decided to change it up a bit for the second card and give him a Fez!

I used the bookcase builder stamp set and used the bright Lemonlime Twist (greeny yellow) and Melon Mambo (fuscia pink) teamed with black with teenagers in mind ;)

When the going gets tough, the tough get going

The latest Colour Inkspiration Colour Challenge!

Well I had some new toys to play with!! A lovely big box of Stampin' Up! goodness. I thought this was going to be simple! Well to be honest, I found the colours tricky to work with, I tried my new paste and ruffle embossing... nope it wasnt having any of it. I wan't the emphasis to be on the feather and the ombre faeture in the centre. It finally ended up like this- What I am calling a window card

I used Hello Colour for the feather and pattern, Oh So eclectic Dies to cut out the back ground and silver thread on the feather.  Oh yes I used the spinge brayers to ombre soft suede on the early expresson frame, stamped marina mist card inside for the finishing detail.

Whatever you do - don't ask me where you are supposed to write! The answer is probably on the back of the card!! lol

SPECIAL BLOG POST NEXT WEEK- YOU ARE LOOKING AT THE GUEST DESIGNER OF THE NEXT CHALLENGE- EEEEKKKKKK!

Sometimes sticking to one colour one stamp set can be out of us crafters comfort zone.  Hopefully this card proves to crafters and none crafters it is easy, simple and with effective results.  I added a bit more detail to make it into a Father's Day card. Go and try it yourself! Monochrome may sound boring, but it isnt ;)

I remember when my son first told me about these fidget spinner things. I was like a what?? And now... well now there is no getting away with them.  Some crazes do seem as if they will last... There is so much variety out there- I do wonder if this is here to stay? A bit like the onesies I guess... Anyway I digress...
I saw a few people make fidget spinner cards, some looked a little more complicated than others. Plucking out some tips from other videos and having a play with what I had, I managed to make my own, to my surprise it actually spun too! lol
I used the sentiment and swish from the Number of years stamp set
Perfect! These are now all ready to go to my nephews for their birthday!  I'm sure if you changed the colours you can easily make a girly version too!

I had so many ideas going through my head about what I wanted to do with this colour challenge, infact I went to bed thinking about it; woke up and couldn't remember the idea I had! ha!

So I set about having a play with the Josephs coat technique, you lay down the colour, stamp and clear emboss it to create clear film, then put a dark or black colour on top of that so only the stamped area shows through.

Well... I tried! It just wasnt happening for me.  I then drew different inspiration from the photo using the leaf.  I had a play with colouring the leaf in different ways (I wish I had kept my dabbling for a photo!)  I settled on one that I liked and recreated it for the challenge.

I loved the idea of adding copper to the mix, so used it for the branch and a couple of smaller leaves to add interest.

I walked away from the card then had another thought!  The colours reminded me a bit of a rainbow and grey skies and the song I used to sing to my boys when they were little. You are my sunshine... then you make me happy when skies are grey! I was going to use an alphabet stamp for the lettering but then noticed the sentiments in the same stampset colourful seasons. It was perfect!

With a  bit of masking and jiggery pokery- it read you make me happy!

Thus completes the story of my card for colour inkspiration challenge 10! #CI10

My aim: Keep it simples!

I struggle to keep things simple, but I am trying really hard! Since I got to play with some new Stampin Up products before they go live on June 1st I was determined to keep it simple!

There could have been and has been so many different directions that people went with this gorgeous, gorgeous palette from the Colour Inkspiration Challenge #CI09! Please do check out the work by pressing on this link

I used the scallop die from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits, the branch stamp from Colourful Seasons and then added bloom stamps from Happy Birthday Gorgeous stamp set.

My inspiration was slightly Japanese, without going down the blossoms route.  This is a quote from a comment I got "It looks like a 'French Cafe' curtain or the edge of freshly laundered table runner. Lush colour combo!"Little did I know it also had a French connection ;)

Turning a Negative into a Positive

I love it when you discover something new by accident!  When I was cutting some dies out I loved the pattern it left behind (the negative part).  Using the pieces by itself looked too sparse, so I set about adding the coordinating stamps into the empty spaces, this seemed to make it work!  I sponged the card to co-ordinate the colours for the Colour Inkspiration challenge.  I tried the card again using classic dapper denim blue and whisper white for my You Tube video.

Attention to Detail

I decided to hop over to see what the latest Global Design Project was #GDP084.  This challenge was case the Designer- Michelle Last,  Here is her card which was pictured for inspiration, and below is my take on it.

The more I worked on the card the more little details and touches I wanted to add.
I was inpired by Kim Oliver at K.O Creations Cards who won and was in the top 5 pick last week for the colour inkspiration challenge and used her idea of using part of the embossing folder to ink the hexagon embossing folder DETAIL 1.  This paved a way to use the bee, which I then added the
DETAIL 2. Of the vellum wings for the bee.
DETAIL 3 the gold string was a last minute addition as I wanted it to look like a bee trail.
DETAIL 4. using tineless textures to create a subtle pollen look in the background.
DETAIL 5. The stitched framelit which I originally cut in white and then decided to ink to incoporate the Basic Grey background card.
DETAIL 6. The doiley was inked and die cut to fit the stitched frame
DETAIL 7. A small strip of lined dsp was put down the side for a finishing touch
DETAIL 8. I put a diamante right in the centre to help as a small but significant focal point.

So all in all a thought through card!

So I made this card for the Colour inkspiration challenge #CI06. I loved these colours together, they looked so rich and vibrant.  This was one of those cards that I conjured up in my head, which thankfully translated onto card!

Using the main colours, I sponged on the background, blending the colours together, and used gold as my accent colour.  I loved some of the comments people kindly wrote in response to the card.
"Bronwyn Eastley Wow! This is amazing. Looks like an oriental piece of art"
"Kelly Kent Ooo beautiful Esther - decadent and luxurious!"

What an honour to have the badge of winner on by blog! It definitely goes down in my top moments of being a crafter- Thank you Colour Inkspiration team and all those votes!
