So I set about having a play with the Josephs coat technique, you lay down the colour, stamp and clear emboss it to create clear film, then put a dark or black colour on top of that so only the stamped area shows through.
Well... I tried! It just wasnt happening for me. I then drew different inspiration from the photo using the leaf. I had a play with colouring the leaf in different ways (I wish I had kept my dabbling for a photo!) I settled on one that I liked and recreated it for the challenge.
I loved the idea of adding copper to the mix, so used it for the branch and a couple of smaller leaves to add interest.
I walked away from the card then had another thought! The colours reminded me a bit of a rainbow and grey skies and the song I used to sing to my boys when they were little. You are my sunshine... then you make me happy when skies are grey! I was going to use an alphabet stamp for the lettering but then noticed the sentiments in the same stampset colourful seasons. It was perfect!
With a bit of masking and jiggery pokery- it read you make me happy!
Thus completes the story of my card for colour inkspiration challenge 10! #CI10
Amazing card, I am going to give this a try, hope mine turns out was nice and pretty like yours...

DeleteI was stunned by this card. I am a SU demo also. I did not even recognize these SU stamps and colors until I read your blog post! Very different than what I normally see. Thought this was Tim Holtz inks and stamps. I am on vacation but will try when I get back. This will be a BOB for me, best of the best!

DeleteA really charming video - well filmed and soft diction! And the card is gorgeous - the colours really pop! I hadn't really thought about that song, You are my Sunshine until I heard a programme on the radio recently called 'Soul Music' and several people were analysing the and now I realise the words have a deeper meaning. Thank you.
